Origins of the therapy
Solution Focused Brief Therapy was developed at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, but quickly expanded beyond the United States.
It’s still sometimes perceived as an ‘American’ approach to therapy and not as well known in other countries.
However, individuals from different cultures, backgrounds, countries and age groups have all been shown to benefit from this type of therapy.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is unique because it doesn’t diagnose you or focus more on problems.
Instead, it presents an opportunity to paint a picture, with the therapist, of what you want for your future instead.
