What is Solution Focused Brief Therapy?

Solution Focused Brief Therapy is designed to be a brief intervention in your life, so that you don’t have to spend your whole life and whole budget in therapy!

It’s an evidence-based, question-oriented talk therapy to help you free up your thoughts, emotions and actions so that you can find your own solution.

If you’re over traditional counselling, want to look towards the future, or simply want to get the most out of therapy, it’s time to give Solution Focused Brief Therapy a try!

Being ‘brief’ simply means we don’t attach a long amount of time or certain number of required sessions to the therapy. You book when you need support. This enables us to offer a variety of session durations for your needs.

Our Ethos

We’re committed to providing affordable therapy on a pay-per-session basis at low rates with Afterpay. We don’t believe in ongoing subscription fees like other online providers, because that effectively keeps you stuck in therapy! It simply goes against the nature of Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

We believe in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, that’s why we specialise in it! We’re an Australian owned company of qualified Counsellors and Solution Focused Brief Therapists maintaining our membership to the Australian Counselling Association and Australasian Solution Focused Association.

Your privacy and confidentiality is 100% our priority.

Origins of the therapy

Solution Focused Brief Therapy was developed at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, but quickly expanded beyond the United States.

It’s still sometimes perceived as an ‘American’ approach to therapy and not as well known in other countries.

However, individuals from different cultures, backgrounds, countries and age groups have all been shown to benefit from this type of therapy.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy is unique because it doesn’t diagnose or focus solely on a person’s problems.

Instead, it presents an opportunity for the person to paint a picture, with the therapist, of what they want for their future instead.

Psychologists and mental health practitioners around the world are becoming more aware of the merits of Solution Focused Brief Therapy as a simple, but quite radical approach.
